Why 3ds? That's a good question. Our purpose in making 3d Renders for our clients is to help them visualize exactly what they will be receiving from us. Many companies out there just give their clients basic layouts, which are based in pure lines, and is hard for people to really see something from it, when you don't have experience reading blueprints.
